Software tool

Adoption

Dr Diagne has developed the adoption software for assessing the adoption rates of NERICA. The adoption software is a Stata module (i.e. a Stata add-on command) that estimates Average treatment effect (ATE) based adoption models as described in the paper "Diagne, A., and M. Demont. “Taking a new look at empirical models of adoption: Average treatment effect estimation of adoption rates and their determinants.” Agricultural Economics 37(2007):201-10.

The module works as a Stata add-on command and allows users to easily estimates ATE adoption rates and determinants (for any technology) in a way similar to how one estimates a classical adoption model or an ordinary regression in Stata.

The add-on command adoption also gives the user the option to estimate a classical adoption model and to compare the results with that of ATE method side-by side. The adoption also has an associated post estimation command that estimates the marginal effects.

The adoption module is made of just one single ado file, one help file and one “readme text file”. Just copy the ado file and the help file in your Stata PERSONAL directory to make it work (type help adoption within Stata to get explanation after installation). The Usual disclaimers apply.

Impact (description, and input not yet available)

Dr Diagne is currently working on a brief description of the how the software is used to estimate impacts.
