Projects ongoing / completed by Countries

The impact assessment unit has implemented and continues to implement projects in a number of countries which include, Benin, Ivory coast, Mali, Togo, Senegal Ghana, Nigeria, Bukinafaso, Rwanda, Uganda and DRC.

Project implemented by NARS

The following is the status of projects being implemented or implemented in collaboration with NARS.

WARDA and its NARS collaborators are carrying out adoption and impact studies (focusing mostly on the NERICAs) in the following countries:

Côte d’Ivoire: surveys completed; data cleaned and documented; adoption rates and determinants for the NERICAs and other modern varieties estimated; impact of modern varieties on biodiversities estimated; impact of NERICA adoption on yield estimated.

Guinea: survey completed; data partially cleaned and documented; adoption rates and determinants for the NERICAs and other modern varieties estimated; impact of modern varieties on biodiversities estimated.

Benin: surveys completed; data cleaned and documented; adoption rates and determinants for the NERICAs and other modern varieties estimated; Other documentation include: impact of adoption of NERICAs and other modern varieties on rice yield, production, and income; impact of adoption of NERICAs and other modern varieties on women income; impact of adoption of NERICAs and other modern varieties on child schooling and health; impact of adoption of NERICAs on food intake and poverty.

Nigeria: survey completed; data cleaning and analysis on-going.

The Gambia: survey completed; data cleaned analyzed and documented. Adoption rates and determinants of NERICA adoption estimated. The impact of NERICAs on yield also estimated.

Togo: survey completed; adoption of rates of NERICA estimated; ex-ante economic impact of NERICA estimated (surplus method); additional analysis on-going.

Mali: survey completed; preliminary estimates of NERICA adoption rates available; ex-ante economic impact of NERICA estimated (surplus method); additional data cleaning and analysis on-going.

Sierra Leone: survey completed; data entry and cleaning ongoing.

Ghana: survey completed and data entry and cleaning is ongoing

Uganda: We are in the planning phase of a Baseline research on biotica and abiotic stresses and the priority setting research is on-going baseline and the priority setting and
baseline survey

Rwanda: Baseline research on biotica and abiotic stresses and the priority setting research is on-going. We are in the planning phase of a baseline and the priority setting and baseline survey
